Chartered Construction Manager Founder, Xplor Projects Limited
Piers Harding BSc MCIOB
Hello
If you’re considering building your own home, you’re probably excited by the possibilities, but also aware that it’s a complex process with a lot at stake.
That’s where I come in.
I’m a Chartered Construction Manager with over 30 years’ experience in residential development and Project Management. Since the mid-1990s, my work has been focused almost entirely on housing, ranging from bespoke individual homes through to multi-unit residential schemes.
13 years into my own career, I built my own home. That was 2004. Fast forward another 22 years and I’m still there, so I know what it feels like to achieve this ambition.
I founded Xplor Projects Ltd in 2006, and since then I’ve worked both as a developer and as a client-side Project Manager. That dual perspective is important; it means I understand not just how projects are delivered, but how decisions impact cost, risk and overall success.
How I Work
My role is to bring structure, clarity and control to what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming process.
I act exclusively in your interests. That means:
Clear, honest advice from the outset
Transparent cost planning and reporting
A structured approach to managing risk
No hidden relationships or conflicts of interest
You’ll always understand where you stand - on cost, programme and decision-making.

Professional Standards & Trust
When you appoint a Project Manager, you’re placing a significant amount of trust in that person.
I take that responsibility seriously.
I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, which means I am bound by a professional code of conduct covering integrity, transparency and accountability.
In practical terms, that means:
Acting with honesty and independence at all times.
Putting your interests first.
Providing clear and accurate information.
Maintaining professional standards throughout the project.

What Matters
Ultimately, I’m here to help you move forward with your Self-Build project, by:
Replacing uncertainty with clarity.
Turning a complex process into a structured, manageable one.
Ensuring your project is delivered properly, on a sound, professional footing.
